Client Profile – Chris Brammall, Award-Winning Artist Blacksmith
We’ve long been admirers of Cumbria based Artist Blacksmith Chris Brammall and were totally blown away by his latest sculpture – a 5m high iconic Spitfire.
Chris was personally asked to design and build a sculpture for the entrance of the new multi-million pound DCS Group headquarters in Banbury. In the 1930’s the site was home to the Northern Aluminium Company who made aluminium for Spitfires – the sculpture makes a nod to the important role the factory played during the Second World War.
Built from steel and mild steel, hydrolics and heat were used to create the curves of ribbon and every last detail – down to the choice of fixings – were carefully selected for quality and design which has become the signature of Chris’ work. The propeller has a mirror polish finish and the rivets being traditionally hand-forged give a nod to the past.
